Online yearbook

While many high schoolers are worried about the prom and popping zits, siblings David and Catherine Cook started a website called myyearbook.com when they were sophomores and juniors. The company started during Spring Break of 2005, after Catherine persuaded her other brother, Geoff to lend $250,000 to launch the website. The website is similar to facebook and myspace, but it’s targeted to a younger audience – ages 12-17. The site has over 6.5 million members and 150 million page views. They have received an additional $4.1 million in venture capital to keep the site going. Not bad for a couple high schoolers with an idea.
